The local AOC wines are Fronton, St Mont, Madiran and Gaillac. You’ll find them everywhere.
True, they cannot compete with a chateau bottled Medoc, but a good Gaillac, for example, is very good indeed - and not nearly so pricey. Generally, the reds outclass the whites.
That said, for a particularly distinctive regional white wine, try the Tariquet Sec. It’s a very popular choice. The brandy of Toulouse is Armagnac which comes largely from the nearby Gers.
Many wine distributors will offer free wine and armagnac tastings. Just ask!
