Supermarkets

The french supermarket, along with the local markets, are the best way to understand why the French are renowned for their love of food and cooking. Anything and everything you could want can be found in the French supermarket, from homeware, hardware and electronics to local wines, cheeses and every type of meat. Pop on a pair of comfy walking shoes and spend an hour exploring the treasures of the french Supermarket.

The largest supermarkets are found on the outskirts of town. If you take the metro line A stop at Balma Gramont, where there is a large Auchan supermarket

If you don't want to venture out of town here are three slightly smaller supermarkets in town.

Nouvelles Galleries

Downstairs in the department store is a favourite amongst locals. Huge range of high quality goods in appealing packaging to take home, plus impressive fresh produce and manned cheese and meat counters always willing to host a tasting.

Monoprix

Monoprix is as central as it gets; you can’t miss it on Rue Alsace Lorraine; toiletries, cosmetics and clothes on the ground floor and everything else in the supermarket upstairs.

Grand Casino in Espace Saint George

This is another major central supermarket with a large range of fresh produce, wine and spirits.
