Toulouse is a working city and lunch is taken between 12 and 2.30pm so don't get caught out! When it comes to dinner, Toulouse ticks to the Spanish clock, so for an atmospheric evening meal with the locals try not to be too early. Make the most of the traditional aperitif and head to dinner after 8.30pm. Toulouse offers an abundance of restaurant choice with some areas better then others. Check out Rue Gabriel Peri for a wide selection of restaurants and before and after drinking holes, Boulevard Strasbourg and Place Wilson for large brasseries and small cobbled streets for crèperies and salons du thé. We couldn’t mention them all but here are a few tried and repeatedly tested favourites:
Chez Raymond - 9 Place Roguet- 05.61.42.77.56
- 2 minute walk from Metro St. Cyprien
Amazing value family run restaurant with something for everyone. Very French with regional dishes and interesting décor. 4 courses with more wine than you can drink for €12 (plus menus at €18 and €30). A little bit of French countryside in the heart of the city!

Top Tip: You may have to wait for a table at the weekend, but have an aperitif at the bar and people-watch while you wait.
Les Halles - upstairs at Marché Victor Hugo - Not bookable - 5 minutes from Jean Jaures and Jeanne d’Arc
A lunchtime Institution Toulousaine. A choice of 7 restaurants under one roof serving the best produce recommended by les marchandes that morning downstairs at Victor Hugo market. A great place to try that must have regional dish.
