Squares

Place du Capitol
La crème de la crème, especially when the sun is shining. Tuesday’s local organic produce market, Saturday weddings, demonstration meeting point, the ultimate cafés with grandiose interiors and the true centre of Toulouse. You can’t help but pass through and will probably spend hours taking in all it has to offer.

Place Saint Georges
The site of the guillotine during the revolution, the annual chocolate market (second weekend in October) and some of the city’s most popular lunchtime outdoor eateries. Get here during the day and have lunch among the locals; once dark, the buzz and charm seem to disappear.

Place Wilson
The stylish bistros and cafés with their afternoon sunny terraces are among many things that bring tourists and Toulousains alike to Place Wilson. Encircling architecture, wide screen cinemas, designer clothes shops and it’s proximity to the life of Victor Hugo, Capitol and the Boulevard make Place Wilson a must. Pass by at night and see the carousel lit up in all it’s glory for that magical feel, especially in December when it sits under the huge Christmas tree.

Place Saint Etienne
An understated square that has far more to offer than initially meets the eye. A gateway to the signposted antique quarter - a great area to mill around of a sunny afternoon with it‘s windy cobbled streets and interesting window displays. If you’re here to have a quick look around the attractive cathedral and it’s gardens, make sure you don’t miss the wine tasting opportunities at La Carte des Vins, and regional gift hampers of La Contesse du Barry.

Place Saint Pierre
For as long as anyone can remember, Place Saint Pierre has been the students place to be/drink/socialize/listen to live music. With over 100,000 students in the city each year, a Monday night, a Thursday night, a Saturday night…pretty much any night during the term…is buzzing with young people out for a good time.
